Time has caught up with the "City of Trees".  Founded in 1863, Les Bois, ("Boise") has always been a desirable place to live because of its rich canopy of trees, especially its large Class II and Class III trees.

The Boise river, nourishing and hydrating the valley, is one factor, and the protective climate of the Boise foothills is another, plus the citizens of Boise have planted thousands of trees, particularly at the start of the twentieth century.

But many of those large trees have now outlived their useful lifespan and, in some cases, pose a danger to the public and/or to homeowners. When such a tree is identified by the city, you might see a notice (pictured below) like this one, signaling a Tree Removal in Boise, within the city limits. The notice allows the public time to contact the city and, if warranted, dispute the impending removal.

The notice is from Boise Parks and Recreation Department's Community Forestry Unit, and indicates:
